Income and expenditure Excel spreadsheet

I am the worried parent of a son who has no concept of expenditure
never exceeding income. I would like to create a simple to use Excel
spreadsheet that he can run on his Palm that would show how much he
earned in a month and what he has left after each expenditure. Does
not need to be complicated at all but ideally would run on month to
month. As an English teacher this is all way beyond me. Can anyone
help? I would be most grateful.

I'd suggest (though this is not an Excel solution) to search
www.palmgear.com (or any other palm shareware site) for an approbiate
shareware/free program to do this on his palm
