Including a web-hosted .jpg in a Word-to-Outlook merge - Office200

I'm using Office2000, and I'm wanting to merge from Word to Outlook (with an
Excel datafile), but the graphic isn't coming through. It seems like the
problem might be that - despite the fact that my Outlook default email format
is .html - the Word output to Outlook is showing in a plain text format. Is
there a workaround for this?

I'm only doing one mailing, so even if I had to temporarily modify my
Outlook email template to include the graphic or something, I'd be willing to
try it.

Sending the graphic as an attachment or part of the email wouldn't be ideal
- it's pretty huge.
