Inbox reloads ALL messages

Whenever I start Outlook, ALL messages in my Inbox (about 5000!) reload,
including those already there. This takes hours. Of course, I only need to
receive the NEW messages. Could someone please tell me how to solve this
problem?

There's an option located in the Advanced tab of the Internet E-mail settings
called "Leave a copy of messages on the server". You may have this enabled. If
so, disabling it will stop the duplications.

This option is buried fairly deep. I can only tell you how to access it if
you're running Outlook 2002, other versions may be slightly different.

Post back with your Outlook version for more help.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

In fact, the 'leave messages on server' box was not ticked, so this was not
the cause of the proble. I would be grateful for any other ideas.

I'd contact your ISP. Be sure to state your Outlook version and that the "leave
messages..." option is disabled.

If you are not using an ISP, please provide more details...including the Outlook
version and update level, for example "Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6735) SP3". This
info is found in Help > About.
