inadvertant "locking" of computer

Marty

I have Windows XP Home Edition. While using Word Perfect
9.0, I somehow caused the computer to lock. Since this
is in my home, and entirely secure, I do not have a
password to unlock the computer. Luckily, I thought to
shut down and restart and that unlocked it.

Is there a way to make a setting that makes locking the
computer impossible?

I would be grateful for any assistance.

Thank you,
Marty

I'm unsure what you mean by "locking". If you mean your computer
appeared to freeze while using an application and then rebooting fixed
it, then no there is no way to make it impossible for that to ever
happen again. If you are talking about the screensaver option to
require a password when the machine comes out of standby, then look on
the Screensaver tab in the Display applet from Control Panel and
uncheck that option.

Lock Worstation. Another bonehead "feature" from M$ - if you hit
Ctrl-Alt-Del and then hit Enter guess what the default action is?

Marty, if you have no password then enter in a blank password by hitting
Enter. If that doesn't work then you actually DO have a password but
have set the system to do an auto-login. One of the many reasons NOT to
use any auto-login stuff.
