In Word 2000, how do I maximize only one minimized window at a tim

I often have several Word windows minimized at the bottom of my screen. When
I select one of the minimized document windows, at least one other document
window opens as well as if they are linked in some way. But it doesn't do it
all the time. What is going on? How do I stop it? Why is it intermittent?
I only want a minimized window to open if I click on it.

this is the way Word is "supposed to work", starting with that version. As far
as I know, it would only not happen if the Word windows were actually separate
instances of winword.exe. When it does not happen, check the Window menus in
each document. If my theory is correct, the behavior is only linked between
documents that appear together at the bottom of the Window menu. Documents that
aren't in the same list won't have linked window resizing behavior.
