In using the formula for Product (A2:A4,2), why times 2?

I don't understand, (I know I forgot this part of math), why I would multiply
by 2 - why do I need to double my answer?

Thanks, I got the formula from the Micro-soft excel help page as an example
and I was just trying to figure out why I would multiply by 2 in the end for
this particular example- thanks anyway....
