Three things to check right away:
1) Do you have SP1 or SP2 installed? If not, go to Help--> Check for updates
and get the latest updates.
2) Try turning down Hardware acceleration. This entry from Steve Rindsberg's
PPT FAQ will help:

3) Check to see if you have the most recent video drivers for your computer.
