In Powerpoint F6 will not navigate panes

While using Powerpoint I am not able to use the F buttons to work between
panes. F6 does not navigate panes, only corrects spelling.
F5 will not click through slides, but opens a window asking for replacement
F9 ask for reply
SHIFT+F6 has no action at all

What can I do to access the F buttons for Powerpoint?

Hi Pamule,

To learn what keyboard shortcuts do what, look in the PowerPoint help under
keyboard shortcuts. There are a lot of them, too many to name here. You
should check your version of PowerPoint (via the Help -> MS Office Help
pulldown menu on your PowerPoint editor window) to make sure it supports
these.

The F6 and Shift+F6 will only work while you are in the edit mode of
PowerPoint, but will work in all three of the editing views (normal, slide
sorter and notes). These keys are inactive if you are in an active
presentation, but will work in the edit pane of a paused show (dual screen
or application switched).

There are a couple of reasons you may be having this difficulty:
1) When you move from pane to pane, the changes are rather subtle. It will
not select anything in the new pane, just change the focus to it. For
instance, the change of focus may only change the highlight around a slide
miniature from grey to blue.
2) Other software (including windows applications) may have hijacked these
keys. With keyboard shortcuts being so easy to create (under any program
..exe file or visual shortcut) a shortcut may have been created and is
superseding the expected behavior of the key. However, I would expect this
behavior to be similar in other Office applications if this is the case.
Could you verify that the F6 key works in Excel and Word?

Other than that, the only recommendations I would suggest are basic
housekeeping (defrag, update, clear out temps, detect and repair) type
stuff. I know if someone else has heard of this that they will chime in.
