In Excel: I click column G and it selects G & H! I only want one.

I'm trying to select only one column at a time but it automatically selects
the column to the right too. I tried to sort my info and it messed it all up.
I'll have to reenter a lot of stuff. I'm using Vista: MS Excel

Perhaps somewhere in Column G & H there is a merged cell that spans the two
columns. If you try to select just G, it will also pick up H because of the
merge. Just a thought.
