I am able to get a 10+MB per second performance while copying files from
Samba mounted drives with 1G ethernet between XP pro and Linux when I copy
files from Linux to XP Pro Machine. However I only get about 3MB while
copying from XP Pro to Linux. I am trying to solve this asymetry in
performance. Is there any regitry settings in XP pro that improves TCP/IP
performance Like
Snd/Rcv window size, Selective ack etc.

In cidentally, I get around 33MB and 17MB while ftp'ing the same files (the
files are large to take care of RAM vs. Disk issue) Is this reasonable to
have such difference in performance between FTP and Samba?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards
Ramesh

Here's what I'd do - since the SAMBA get from Windows is slower than SAMBA
send to Windows, and the FTP is faster than SAMBA, then I'd go to a "SAMBA"
newsgroup or go to http://us1.samba.org/samba/ to see if there are any
"tweaks" available.
