Improper Removal of Domain

I have a forest which used to have 4 domains in. 1 of the
domains was removed. However it was not done properly and
now we are left with traces of it all over the place. From
what I can work out the sever holding the domain was
removed and then deleted. However now we are getting loads
of error logs relating to the old domain. It is also still
in AD Domains and Trusts and I am unable to remove it. Any
tips, tricks or information would be apprecated.
