Importing taxt extract file with Numbers and decimals

I have an extract file with a .txt extension that is too large to import into
Excel prior to Access. One of the fields contains a number with a 3 digit
decimal. When I try to import directly to access this field comes over as a
text field dropping the 3 decimal places. I have no way to modify the
creation of the fields in the extract file while it is being created.

Any suggestions on how this can be imported to maintain the 3 decimal poin #
12345.123?
Thanks

Are you using TransferText (macro or VBA) to do the import? If yes, create
an Import Specification that defines that particular field's contents as a
number.

If you're not using TransferText, you will need to use it.

What is transfertest? Is it an application that I need to load? I just
tried to Import via access 2003 MS Access.

TransferText is available in a macro or via VBA code. It's built into
ACCESS. See ACCESS Help for more information about it.
