Importing mpeg converted from .VOB DVD file

Can anyone help me out?

I have copied a clip taken from a home movie on a digital HI 8 tape that had
been transfered on to a DVD. The clip was originally a .VOB file which I have
changed to a .mpeg, .mpg and also tried a .avi file. They all play fine in
media player 9, but when I try to inport it into MM I get a 'CODEC not
installed on you computer error'

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I belive its because a .VOB file is not an mpeg as such and is not availible
as an mpeg if rename it you have to grab it from the dvd using Dvd copying
software (Which is LEGAL in your case) I use DVD x do a google search for it!
