Importing from XP Outlook to Vista WinMail

How do I get my emails from XP Outlook to Vista WinMail? I thought I had
backed up my emails in both Vista and Outlook, but when I try to import them
it says that the folders are empty, which they are not. The Outlook folders
have files with .DBX extensions and the Vista folder has files with numbered
files. Can't I somehow just copy these files into the Vista mail store?

Any help would be great, Thanks

Then you had Outlook EXPRESS not Outlook. (Fortunately the advent of Windows
Mail is starting to reduce the confusion between the two!)

I suspect that when you copied the dbx files you failed to copy the file
called Folders.dbx. Without that file, Windows Mail will not see the dbx
files as an OE message store. Do you still have access to the XP machine?
If so, then copy ALL the dbx files, and put them in a folder to which you
have full read/write permissions on the Vista Machine. Creating a new folder
for the purpose in your Documents folder would seem to be the ideal place.
Then in WM do File-Import and navigate to the folder you created.
