I am having problems importing data form DBF files into an Access 2000 database

When I try to do this I get the message

Jet Database Engine could not find the object .

Can anyone help me with this please

I've never really used Access 2000 but as far as I can remember there's
a problem with long file names and importing from DBF files. Try moving
and/or renaming the files so that the names of the file and all the
folders in the path fit the old 8+3 pattern and total less than 64
characters, e.g. instead of something like "C:\Documents and
Settings\Joe Bloggs\My Documents\Misc Data\Book List.dbf" have something
like "C:\Temp\MyFile01.mdb".

If you know how, just use the short equivalent of the long name.

I too have this problem, but not on all computers. We are running XP with
Office 2003 and 2 of my computers can import files with long names. I can't
find the difference. I really need to use the files as they are.
