Importing Contacts

I'm trying to import the contact .pst file created in Office2003 into
Office2000 without any luck. Is the file not backwards compatable
(office2000 has all updates applied). I keep getting the message,
'properties for this information service must be defined prior to use'
and also the message 'backup.pst is not compatable with this version'
I've even tried to export the contact information to excel and import the
excel file and get the message '####.xls was not recognised. The excel
translator was unable to recognize this file'

No, it's not backward-compatible. You must create an Outlook 97-2002 PST in
Outlook 2003, then copy (NEVER export to a PST) the Contacts folder to it.
That file will be compatible.

Brian thanks for the quick response, I have created the contact folder. I am
not sure now how to get it into outlook or a PST file. The contact folder
has been saved as an Office Data file.

Brian thanks again, I've figured it out ..... I was meant to copy the
contacts while still within outlook. All works fine now!
