Importing Contacts from (Goldmine 7.0 or XML File)

I have Goldmine 7.0 and have exported ALL contact info (including notes) to
an XML file.

1) What is the best way to import into Outlook 2007?

Provided it's an XML file that Excel can read - open it in Excel, save it as
a CSV file, import the CSV file. Or if you're comfortable with Named Ranges
in Excel - just make sure that there is a "named range" for all the data in
Excel (including the header row with field names) and import the Excel file.
If you're going to go the Excel file route - make sure that you save the
Excel file in Excel 97-2003 format and NOT Excel '2007 format since Outlook
can't import the latter.

Ok, Thanks Excel was able to read the XML file, and Outlook was able to see
the column heading, but the XML file lists each contact vertical not
horizontal.

Example:
One column label ("name") has the following rows:

Address
Callbkfreq
City
Company
Contact
Createat
Createby
Createon
Dear
Email @domain
Email username
Last
Lastcontat
Lastconton
Lastdate
Lasttime
Lastuser
Prevresult
State
Zip

Q1: How do I get this type of XML file into Outlook?

From your description, sounds like you're missing the XML schema file to
enable Excel to properly translate the XML data file. When a schema file is
not available, Excel will attempt to surmise the structure and create the
record(row) definition which apparently it can't do with the Goldmine XML
data file.

Not at all familiar with the Goldmine structure but do recall something when
briefly reviewing something else regarding Goldmine where if memory serves
me correctly, there was an option to create the associated schema file at
the same time as the data file OR use a schema file located on the Goldmine
website (sounds like the latter option may have been used in this case).

Outlook itself has no XML provisions (and even if it did - would have the
same issues as Excel) so you will need to convert your XML data to a format
that Outlook can deal with which is what the real problem is in this case
(i.e. this is not an Outlook question but one that would be better answered
by the Goldmine folks since they are the creator's of the data and should
have a quick answer as to what exactly you need for Excel to read the data
properly).
