importing autotext

You would still maintain a global autotext template it is easier and is
backward compatible as there are no Galleries or Categories as with 2007
Building Blocks.

If all your autotext however resides in Normal.dot now it moves to
Normal.dotm as Autotext by default.

Then I suggest you read up on the new Galleries and Categories (Building
Blocks components).

thanks for reply, they weren't in Normal.dot - but in a different template,
and I can't see how to import those AutoText into Normal.dotm.

You wouldn't import them into Normal as they appear to be a global template
available to all users. Normal is only available to each individual user by
default.

Put the template (or a copy of it) into the Word 2007 startup folder and the
autotexts it contains will be available to Word 2007.

Hi Angela,

To add a bit to Graham's reply. If you have other content in the prior version template (such as macros or toolbars) that you want
active then putting it in the Word Startup or templates folders can be helpful. If the only thing you want is access to the
Autotext entries in that template then you can put the template into the 'Document Building Blocks' subfolder of the Documents and
Settings area for your user profile.

The Autotext entries will be available once any of the Autotext/Building Block galleries is activated/viewed inside of Word 2007.
