Importing a second .pst file

In an effort to reduce the size of my current pst file, I made a new data
file called it "Personal Folder pre 2007" and moved all my older emails
across to it. I've put this data file onto another storage device and then
removed it from Outlook. Should I ever want to retrieve these message, is
there any easy way to re-import the pst file so that it reappears in Outlook
as "Personal Folder pre 2007" and doesn't try to integrate with the existing
Personal Folder. Hope this makes sense! I am using Outlook 2003

Yes - don't import! In Outlook do File-Open-Outlook Data File and navigate
to where you put it....

Tks. I thought it might be something simple like that, but felt I'd better
seek expert advice rather than trial and error, since if Personal Files did
merge, it would take quite a while to sort out. Incidentally, I felt it
necessary to do such a tidy up as my original ,pst file had exceed 1000MB, is
there a recommended size that one should keep below?

Not really, with Outlook 2003, if you are using the new Unicode pst file
format.
The default max pst file size in the new Unicode format is 20 GB!!!!
If you are using a legacy pst file from Outlook 2002 or earlier, then it's
wise to keep it round about 1 GB. Anything larger and you start to get
towards the sizes when problems start...
