HP makes a scanner for slides and negatives, I saw one at WalMart last
month. Regular scanners can't do the job because the light has to come from
the back. Depending on the quality you need, a simple scanner might do the
trick. Other companies make some extremely high-rez scanners for slides and
negs.
Some regular scanners have slide scanning attachments. Herself's Epson
PhotoPerfection numbernumbernumbernumber model does and it works reasonably
well for on-screen rez scans.
