Import Word DOC file

P

Phil

Hi,
I have a fairly complicated Word Doc file that I would like to place on a
web page. Is this possible? I'm running Front Page 2000. I've tried import
and insert file and get nothing.
Thanks,

File->Import the word doc into a folder in your site, then open an
appropriate page and create a link to it.
"Complicated" Word documents cannot be easily converted to HTML pages.

For a simple Word document, open a blank page in FrontPage, then browse to
the document in Windows explorer and drag it onto the open page. This
often, but not always, results in a reasonable page with little clean up
required. Complex documents with images and tables more often than not
result in a mess using this method.

Do you want to display the doc or make it available for download?

To display it, use "Save As" > HTML. To make it available for
download, import the *.doc file and place a text link to it on your
page.

Just a warning, you ain't gonna like the HTML Word creates...

I'm not absolutely sure I'm right, but from everything I've read (much of it
on this forum), it sounds like the answer is no. I don't believe that Word
formatting is consistent with FrontPage. Look at how Tables are manipulated
differently, for example.

If it were me, I'd save the Word doc to a txt file, edit in Notpad to remove
all formatting, copy and paste into FrontPage, and reformat there.
