I'm trying to convert contacts from lotus notes (v7) into outlook. I created
a vcf (vcard) file but outlook only brings in the first contact. I'm not
married to this approach to export(lotus)/import(outlook) so any suggestions
on how to get all contacts brought over is appreciated Thanks, Randolph

I don't think Outlook can import multiple contacts from a vCard file. Can
you export the data from Notes in any other formats?

Vince...thanks for the feedback...I've tried exporting from Notes to 123 then
converting (save as) 123 to excel and importing excel into Outlook but that
only brings in about 5 fields from the basic Notes Contacts view...not all
the fields. In the meanwhile I searched the Outlook database further and
found a reference to a product sold by Sperry Software called VCard Converter
Add-in for MS-Outlook and it refers to the fact that native outlook will only
pick up the first card in a vcf/vcard file. They claim to be able to bring in
the whole file using that add-on but it's not 100% clear that it will work
from the write up
(www.sperrysoftware.com/outlook/microsoft-vcard-converter.asp) plus I'd
rather not spend $24.95 for an add on when I just got this brand new machine
and I'm trying to sunset my old one. Any further suggestions is appreciated,
Randolph

Use Notepad to break the vCard file into separate vCard files, one per
contact.

Brian...good idea and I'd thought of that but was trying to avoid the carpal
tunnel :-). But since I'm so cheap that I wont put down the 24.95, I guess
I'll find some spared time to parse the 500 contacts in my list into separate
files. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Randolph

It seems that the problem you are encountering is that Lotus Notes exports all of your contacts into one VCF file, but Outlook only reads the first contact from that file. This happens a lot when you convert NSF files to VCF files manually.

If you don't have to do it manually, I recommend utilizing a dependable software like WholeClear NSF to VCF Converter. It is made just for those like you who want to move all of their Lotus Notes (NSF) contact lists to Outlook without losing any of the information. It transforms all of your contacts into .vcf files that can be opened in Outlook. This will let Outlook see and import each contact separately, without missing any.

This technique is ideal for everyone who needs to convert NSF files to VCF files without any technical problems. Load your NSF file, choose the export option, and the utility will take care of the rest. I hope this helps

Randolph, The issue is with how Lotus Notes exports the .vcf (vCard) file since you are using Lotus Notes (v7) and trying to migrate contacts to Outlook. When you export contacts, Notes usually puts them all into one multi-contact VCF file. Outlook can only view the first contact in that file. This is why you only see one contact after the import.
Instead of the typical method to export, use the GainTools Address Book Manager. This tool makes a .vcf file for each contact in your Lotus Notes address book, which is kept in the .nsf file. Outlook can effortlessly import all of those distinct VCF files without missing any of them. It is a better and faster way to move contacts from Lotus Notes to Outlook, and it avoids the difficulties that come up when you export or process multi-contact files manually.
