Import text Wizard

Trying to import a text file and the error's read,
1-Syntax error in date in query expression 'records4-30-
04#txt'.
2-An error occurred trying to importnfile c:\(file
name).txt. The file wasnot imported
3-Invalid SQL
statement:expected 'DELETE', 'INSERT', 'PROCEDURE', 'SELECT
', or 'UPDATE'. All in a row

Not enough info.
What steps were you following?

Be sure the data is in a table layout.
Test it on a subset of the file with 3-4 rows.
