import text specification Exporting it

T

Thrava

I'm importing a text file as a table.
So under the "Import Text Wizard" I click the "Advanced"
button to go to "import text specifications" window.
There I select one of the "specifications" that I had
created and saved before.

This is all in my Database1.

I like to export these specifications to a new database.
How can I do that?

I don't see any obvious way to export or import
specifications

Thanks

Thrava,

The easiest method is to import specifications from the source database. Click on File > Get
External Data > Import. Select any (1) table in the source database (ie. Database 1). Click on
the Advanced button. Place a check in the option to include "Import /Export Specs". After you
have imported the table and all Import/Export specifications, you can simply delete the table.

No need to import an entire table just to also import the import/export
specifications. In the new .mdb file, click File | Get
External Data | Import menu. Select the .mdb file that has the export/import
specs in it. Then, when the wizard window appears, click on the Options
button at bottom right of the window. You'll see a checkbox there for the
specs. Check it and then click OK.

Thanks Ken. I hadn't tried your simpler method, when doing a quick test, but it works fine too.
