Import text file - Did something break - delimiter

I have been able to click on a tab delimited text file and presto, it was
correctly imported to a worksheet, after a recent "upgrade" it only works
about half the time. I tried setting the global delimiter but it still
misses some but not all of the tabs. If I manually import the file and
select tab as the delimiter, it works fine...

Ron,

Try importing your file again, after having manually set the delimiter to tab. It has a way
of remembering the last import. No one knows just why it does that.

I'm guessing you're actually opening the file (File - Open), not truly importing it. If
you'll be importing the file regularly, consider a true import (Data - Import External
Data - Import Data). That will import it into a sheet in an existing workbook, and it will
remember your import specs -- you need only refresh it to read the file again. More at
