Import specification, how to copy it

C

Chris L.

Hello,

I've generated a TXT import specification (by pressing "advanced"
button when importing), how do I copy it to another computer? I need
to use the spec to import the same TXT file on other mdb's. What
file(s) should I copy?

Thanks in advance
C.

There may be a more direct way to do this by importing a system table (where
I believe Specs are stored), but this will do it too.

- Open the mdb file you want to import the spec into.
- File>GetExternalData>Import, and point to the mdb file (or copy of) that
has the spec u want

- ImportObjects Dialog: 1) Select an object from the external mdb (table,
query, form). Even if you don't really want to import anything, you have to
select something afaik.
- ImportObjects Dialog: 2) Click Options, then check "Import/Export Specs"
- ImportObjects Dialog: 3) Click OK

That should do it.

(Optional)
- Delete the object you selected for importing if you don't really want
it in that file
- Compact

HTH,
