Import rich text into Access 2007

I have an Excel spreadsheet which contains formatted text -- italics and
boldface. Since Access 2007 supports rich text, I would like to move the data
to Access.

When I do an import from Excel 2007 into Access 2007, I lose the text
formatting, even though the field is defined in Access as a Memo/Rich Text
field.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Not easily (if at all). What Access 2007 calls "Rich Text" is actually
HTML, not RTF so importing or pasting RTF is not going to work.
