I am operating Vista RC2 and would like to import my Outlook 2007 calendar,
contacts and mail. But I don't see an option to import a pst file into
Windows Mail. I did click on Import Messages, which then appeared to allow
me to import all of the above, but when it imported anything, the characters
were in Chinese (or Japanese, can't tell which!)
The Outlook calendar and contacts, are unique to Outlook and can only be
imported into a version of Outlook on the Vista box. Mail messages from
Outlook however, can be imported into Windows Mail by using the menu, File /
Import / Messages - selecting From Microsoft Outlook.
Afraid that doesn't work. The import seems to going smoothly and then when I
click on an e-mail file I have imported (and for which the header is fine),
the text is in Chinese.
The transfer wizard didn't work for me....attempted to transfer outlook 2007
mail and accounts from my old OS drive (still physically in my system) to my
new drive with Vista Home Premium.
I booted to my old OS (WinXP Professional) and used the Outlook export
feature to export my contacts to a .csv file which imported into Mail fine,
however, Mail doesn't allow me to import mail folders using .csv files. Is
there another way for me to do this? Like I mentioned...my old OS drive is
physically in my system and can be browsed in Vista.......
Typically with OE you have to have Outlook installed on the system to which
you are importing, as far as I understand it, and I think its the same for
WinMail.
