Import Excel Cell Contents Into Word Labels

Greetings,

I am running Office 2003 on an XP box.

Is there anyway to import a list with 2 lines per record into Word and
print onto Avery 5160 labels? Does the imported data need to be in
any particular format?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Suzanne,

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to apply the information in
these links to my situation and have made a lot of progress, just not
enough.

I can get the blank labels on the blank sheet with the <<Next Record>>
in each label (except the first label). Importing from Excel doesn't
seem to bring in any data???

The Excel worksheet (only one sheet in this workbook) that I used as
my data source, is setup with no headers, where I used column A for
Label line 1 (Cell A1 is the first date I need a label for) and column
B for Label line 2 (B1 is formatted as the day of the week for the
first day). A1 & B1 are the same except for the formatting. All of
the proceeding rows are simply the cell above + 1.

The label format I need is:

Line 1: mmm dd, yyyy <36 point><Bold><Arial Narrow>
Line 2: ddd <24 point><Bold><Arial>

Is there any way to use formulas and formatting to advance each label
ahead by 1 day with the formatting listed above instead of importing
the data from Excel?

What do I need to do to get these dates in this format on these labels
(Avery 5160 labels)?

Any additional help will be appreciated.

In the Excel Worksheet, insert a new row at the top of the data into cell A1
insert the word Date and into cell B1, insert the word Day. Then when you
attach your mail merge main document to that Worksheet, insert the merge
field Date into the first label on the sheet, then press enter and then
insert the mergefield Day.

Then follow the rest of the instructions on Graham Mayor's website.

Hello Doug,

Thanks for the reply.

That helped quite a bit!!!

All that is left now is the Date format.

I have the size and font working. but I can't seem to find where the
date formats are hiding!

I need for line 1 to be formatted as a Date in the "mmm dd, yyyy"
format and line 2 to be formatted as "dddd" Date Format.

Right now both lines are in the "m d, yyyy" Date format

How can I apply my preferred formatting on these labels?

As always, any help will be appreciated.

I looked at this site but I could not get the syntax for the switches
to work. My efforts did not work.

I have two dates in 2 MergeFields in the first label which are called
<<LabelDate>> & <<LabrlDay>>. They show up in the first label like
this:

<<LabelDate>>
<<LabelDay>>

These are the formatting switches that I am told need to be inserted
into lines 1 & 2:
{ DATE \@ "mmm dd, yyyy" }
{ DATE \@ "dddd" }

Can anyone help complete these MergeFields formulas?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you press Alt+F9, the

<<LabelDate>>
<<LabelDay>>

will be replaced by

{ MERGEFIELD LabelDate }
{ MERGEFIELD LabelDay }

Insert the switch inside the closing field delimiter so that you have

{ MERGEFIELD LabelDate \@ "mmm dd, yyyy" }
{ MERGEFIELD LabelDay \@ "dddd" }

Then press Alt+F9 again to toggle off the display of the field codes.
