Import contacts from Outlook 2003 to 2002 - compatibility issue??

Guest

I am trying to import some contacts from an Outlook 2003 .pst file into my XP
Professional Outlook 2002. The message I get when doing this is -
The (file name) is not compatible with this version of the Personal
Folders
Information Service. Contact your admnistrator
Please has anyone got any bright ideas, I am the administrator (it's a one
man band business) and I'm stuck!
All thoughts, comments, suggestions etc gladly welcomed
Thanks
Sally

Create a new PST file on your Outlook 2003 machine and make sure it's in
97-2002 format. Copy your Contacts folder into it then go along with the
rest of the procedure you were doing.

Create the new 97-2002 PST and copy the Contacts folder, as Vince said, but
do not import it. Simply open it in Outlook with File>Open>Outlook Data
File, open the COntacts folder it will contain, select all the entries it
contains with CTRL-A, click Edit>Copy to Folder, and speficy your default
Contacts folder as the destination.

Thank you so much for your input - unfortunately having followed your
instructions to the 't' I'm still getting the same error message coming up.
I've checked the properties of the file and they are '97/2002 so I'm well and
truely scuppered now!
Any other helpful hints
Thanks

and again the same happens.
Could this be anything to do with updates or XP SP2? I'm also going to
check the site for any new updates which may help
Any other helpful hints
Thanks

Post EXACTLY the steps you took while following the instructions "to the
't'" and EXACTLY what you saw at each step along the way.
