ASCII data typically have . separator for decimal. how to transform it into ,
separator?

Either change the list separator character in your Windows Regional
Settings (Control Panel), or use the Text Import Wizard. If the file name
doesn't have the .txt extension, change it, and use File - Open. That will
start the Text Import Wizard. Or import the data (Excel 2000 - up) with
Data - Get external data. Same deal.
