Imbedding Images in HTML Mail

W

Wayne Wengert

We have an HTML format email newsletter we want to send to our members. The
person who developed the email template tells us that we need to put all the
images on our website and refer to them there when we compose the
newsletter. Is this true?

We had hoped to simply open the template in Word (Word 2003), edit it as
needed and add some new images and then save it and use the email option in
Word to send it. Is there a way to imbed (or attach) the images?

TIA

I wouldn't do that. Outlook 2003 does not display such external images in
HTML messages. I expect other mailers may follow suit.

Did this person give a reason why the images shouldn't be embedded in the
message?

No - no reason - I suspect that is just the way he has always done it.

How can I create a template that imbeds the images directly in the email so
they don't need to access a web site to "get" the images?

One reason I could think of is to keep the actual message as small as
possible.

Sue;

I just went through the outline of your book and it sure looks interesting.
Do you cover the construction of email newsletter type documents in the
book? My background is VB6 (never worked with VBA - yet!) I assume VBA is
at least similar?
