IMAP works with outlook's built in spam filter?

I want to know if the SMAP filter (Junk e-mail folder) works with IMAP on Outlook 2003 and 2007?????

It seems that it does not work because the only way to parse does emails is if you are using POP and download all the messages to the computer. Since IMAP stores messages on the server the spam filter tool that comes with Outlook is useless when using IMAP.

If this is not true please let me know.

The Junk E-mail filter should work with IMAP accounts if you configure
account in the send/receive group to download the entire message instead of
just the headers. This article gives a general overview of the Junk E-mail

I followed these procedures:

1. Went to the Send/receive Groups and select the Edit button

2. Selected the account where I want to do the filtering a select the a
radio button "Download complete items including attachments for subdscribe
folders"

3. Click ok then I shutdown Outlook and restarted Outlook.

To test i added one of my email addresses from yahho.com to the block list.
Sent an email from that yahoo address to the email account that suppose to
do the filtering but the message doesnt go to the junk folder, it goes to
the Inbox folder of the IMAP account. Is not getting filtered.

Any inputs?

If you have a retail license for OL 2007, open a support incident with
Microsoft about the problem. You have 90 days of support when you buy a
license.

I had been having quite a problem with Outlook 2007 and my IMAP account with respect to junk mail, receiving at times over such messages per day. The junk mail settings did not appear to work correctly.
Quite by accident, I found the following settings to make the junk mail filtering work at it should. No other setting combination will work properly.
First, select “View”, then “Current View”, then “Hide Messages Marked for Deletion”. Second, select “Tools”, then “Options”, then in the “Preferences” tab select the “Junk e-mail” button and tick off all of the boxes and the “high” setting. Third, “move from the “Preferences” tab in the “Options” window to the “Other” tab, select the “Reading Pane” button and then tick off the “Mark items as read” box. Fourth, select “View”, make sure that “AutoPreview” is not selected, select “Reading Pane” and then select either “Right” or “Bottom”.
Believe it or not, my wife had this same general setup except with the reading pane set to “Off” and the junk e-mail filtering did not work correctly! Therefore, the settings must be exactly as I have described to get the junk e-mail filtering to work.

I'm using Outlook 2007 and when I go to "View", then "Current View I dont
have "Hide Messages Marked for Deletion".

Also when I go to "Tools", then "Options", there is no Preference Tab.

Any inputs?

I was further investigating and the reason why you see those settings and I
dont is because you have the Spam-Reader Add In on your Outlook 2007. I dont
have that Add In. That makes a big difference. The Spam-Reader is a
different application than the Outlook 2007 built in spam feature.

I will conclude that the Outlook 2007 built in spam feature does not work at
all with IMAP accounts.
