IMAP messages don't download in Outlook - only headers

If I click on a new imap mail header in Outlook, I get this message:

Can't open this item. The operation is not supported until the entire
message is downloaded. Download the message and try again.

It's not the server - I can download these just fine if I use Eudora or
another email client. Can anyone tell me how to "Download the message"?
Closing and opening Outlook doesn't help, rebooting the computer doesn't
help, clicking send/receive doesn't help.
Note: the messages are visible the next day - just not the day I need them!

Press ALT-CTRL-S to open the Send/Receive Groups dialogue. Select the
Send/Receive group containing the IMAP account (probably "All Accounts") and
click Edit. Select the IMAP account and select the radio button labeled
"Download complete item including attachments".

I am having the same problem as described below. I have tried the suggested
solution, but Outlook won't allow me to check the option to "download the
entire message including attachments." Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
