IMAP AOL account has gone haywire

I have several issues with my imap.aol account: (1) several emails lost from
one personal folder; (2) two ghost imap accounts have appeared over past
couple of days; (3) IMAP Folders under Tools Menu is nonfunctional; (4) when
deleting messages, dialog box appears to choose to delete permanently - no
strikeout lines, no purge messages marked for deletion, etc. AND messages
return at next Send/Receive session; (5) unable to restore from pst; (6)
messages are all available if I log onto AOL.

What is going on and how do I fix it? I've already tried Detect and Repair.

If this were happening to me, I'd just delete the IMAP account, stop
Outlook, delete any left over IMAP cache PSTs, restart Outlook, and readd
the account to create a fresh cache PST.
