images....

For last few days, all the mages tha I am trying to save become .bmp, even
though they are JPG or GIFs. I have tried deleting cookies, emptying TIF
folders and history. But no luck.... :)

What's causing this and how can I get rid of it.

Emptying the cache should do...

Just in case you are not sure what Hans means:-

From IE, Tools/Internet Options and click the Delete Files button in the
Temporary Internet files box on the General tab.
