No you don't. You should be able to insert an image from any
location. (Use the insert / picture / from file menu items.) When
you save the page containing the image Front Page asks you where
within your web files you want to save them.
Import or Drag/Drop (not copy/paste) or FP may not track them correctly.
| That may be so for you but it soesn't work for many. We've had hundreds of

That is a good way to lose quality on .jpg images. Every time FrontPage
saves a .jpg image into the web it compresses the image a little more
(unless you remember to change the save settings), thus the quality
deteriorates.
Importing (or drag-drop) into the web before inserting on a page
prevents FP from re-saving the image.
