Images & Links missing from DWT

I converted a site using shared borders to a Dynamic Web
Template - seemed to work OK, but when I first published,
the images disappeared (just saw red "x"s) and the links
located in the template didn't work. I re-inserted the
pics and links and published again. Worked fine, but when
I accessed the template the next day, all the pics had
disappeared again. What's going on?
