Images in Forms -- Database Size Gets Huge

J

Jonathan Mulder

I"m placing one image in a from. The image is a JPG, and
the size is 319 KB. When I save the database, the MDB
size grows from about 2,700 KB to 17,200 KB! I've
compacted the database, and it still remains the same
size.
Is there something I should be doing to the image prior
to placing in form?

Thanks,

Hi,

See if this great article by MVP Tony Toews helps:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/imagehandling.htm

I believe MVP Arvin Meyer has a sample database demonstrating
this technique on his site. Look for it here:

http://www.datastrat.com/DataStrat2.html

Find PictureMgr or PictureMgr2K and download the file.
Haven't had to do this myself, but the sample file should
help you get started.

You might also try these links as well:
