I am not sure where to ask this questioin but this seems like a fair place
to start. Somehow or other I seem to have changed something somewhere.
Sorry for the obvious vagueness but all I can recall doing around the time
this started was reinstalling a printer and wrestling with the Blackberry
Desktop software which seems a bit unstable. After rebooting my PC all my
programs--Outlook, Word, etc.--now appear a lot bigger on the screen in Win
XP SP3. It's as if my computer has become the "large print" version of its
former self. Is there some way I can adjust this, short of restoring the
computer to an earlier point?

Right-click the desktop and select the Properties menuitem.

On the Settings tab, press Advanced.

One of the options here is the font size. Normally it's set to Small. If
it's not then you've found your problem.

If not the cause, it might also be that the screen resolution has been
changed, or system font files have been replaced with nonstandard ones.
..wrestling with the Blackberry
Desktop software which seems a bit unstable.

Tell me about it. :-/

Right click on your desktop.
Click Properties in the popup menu.
Click the Settings tab.
Click the Advanced button > General tab.
Under "Compatibility" select " Apply the new settings without restarting".
Click Apply > Ok.
Move the "Screen Resolution" slider one notch to the right.
Click the Apply button.
Click OK if it suits you, if not move the slider to the right one more
notch.

Thanks to all! Now that you mention it I now recall the "slider" showing up
somewhere along the line and I moved it thinking what could be wrong with
more resolution? Well when I checked this setting at your suggestion it was
back down to the lowest resolution (800 x 600). I tried a few settings and
the best seems to be 1280 x 760. The highest doesn't work at all; the
others leave something to be desired, such as big black strips top and
bottom. The Font size was "Normal (96dpi)." Not sure how this happened but
now everything seems to be OK. Thanks again.
