Image paths in Word

The problem is, we have some documents that were moved from the original
folders that they were created in and now the images are showing up as
blanks. I do not have placeholders checked. If I move the images and the
doucment in the same folder, nothing shows. If I take the image and place it
in Word again it immediately shows.
Is there a way to see the path of an image placed in a word document? I have
tried the alt+f9 approach, but this doesn't seem to show me anything in
regards to the images. What I would really like to be able to do is see the
code for the image and where Word has this code pointing to to find the image.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil

If the images are linked and not embedded (as your experience suggests), you
can see the file path only if the image is in line with text. If it is
wrapped, you will have to unwrap it temporarily in order to edit the path.

Hi Phil,

Alt+F9 will toggle on/off the field codes for inline
layout graphics only.

If you use either File=>Web Page Preview
and View=>Source in the browser or in Word use the optional
install Script Editor (Alt+Shft+F11) you'll see where Word
is looking for the graphics. Note that the XML property of
o:Title is what Word 'remembers' of the original file name.
Internally for saving it uses "Image001.xxx" for naming.

Thanks much for the replies.

Both helped and I was able to see what I was looking for. I think this may
be a conversion problem. The original was created in Word 97 and after
opening it in Word 2003 some of the graphics that I can see were flipped
upside down, but when opened in Word 2000 these same graphics were right-side
up. Even so, the main images are not viewable in both Word 2000 and 2003.

The simplest solution might be to just re-embed them into the document.
