image only shows x

I keep seeing images on the internet with only a red x in the upper left corner. I can't figure out how to view them. And suggestions?
 
That means IE can't find the picture. It could mean the pictures don't
exist IE is broken, or pictures are disabled. Open Internet Options,
click Advanced, and find the Multimedia header. Make sure Show Pictres
is checked.
