Image error in reports.

I have a database that includes the path and filename of associated
photographs. I am trying to create a report that includes a description of
each photo and a thumbnail image. The image is linked in code with
Me.imgPicture.Picture=Me.PictureFilename.

On the report each image is a little less than an inch tall and the detail
section is the same so there are about 12 records per page. A report may
have two or three pages.

I have had two symptoms. The first symptom is that the report will only
have a few images. Five of the 12 records on a page may have their
associated image visible and the other seven records will have the
description but no image.

An alternative symptom is an error message:
Run-time error ‘2114’: Microsoft Office Access doesn’t support the format of
the file ‘Filename.jpg’ or file is too large. Try converting the file to BMP
or GIF format.
This message pops up inconsistently after several records have processed.

I have read of similar problems here and have tried several of the
suggestions but haven't yet found a solution. I have used regedit to
suppress the Loading Image dialog and I have converted the images from jpg to
bmp in code as the report is created.

Thanks,

David

This could be due to a limit in the maximum image size that the Access Image Control can handle. Try running
the report after downsampling the images (make backup copies of the image files first!). If you don’t
have a batch image resizer you can use the free “Image Resizer PowerToy” from Microsoft.

To do this using the PowerToy:

1) Make a backup copy of the image files.
2) Select the image files for your report in an Explorer window.
3) Right-click and choose “Resize Pictures”.
4) Choose the relevant size (try ‘Large’ – 1024 x 768).
5) Click ‘Advanced’ and check ‘Resize the original pictures’ (*** Make sure you have made backups – this
will irreversibly discard resolution!!! ***)
6) Click OK then try running your report again (it should now be using the reduced resolution images).

You can get the Image Resizer PowerToy for XP here:
