Image caching question

Hi

I have a masterpage that has an image in it. Whats the best way to
cach the image to stop it from being reloaded each time a new page is
displayed?

Will the masterpage take care of this for me or do I have to manage
it? If so how would you suggest?

My site is written using .Net 2.0 and I have very little control over
the iis server where the site is hosted.

The one who caches images is the browser. All browser knows is the image
url. If the url will be the same, the browser will use the cached image
rather than going to the server to get it.
