I'm shocked

I posted the message below last Friday and nobody replied, once again it
would be greatly appreciated if somebody could elaborate on the message "The
thread '<No Name>' (0x94c) has exited with code 0 (0x0)." that appears in
the output window as my application runs.

Should I worry about this message?

Cheers,

Original Post:

Hello,

When I have a batch process running in my VB.Net application I have notice
that the message
"The thread '<No Name>' (0x94c) has exited with code 0 (0x0)." will appear
in the output window every so often.
Does anybody know what this means or should I be concerned?

Thanks,

I think you should worry about your newsreader.

I remember me the answer from CJ because it was so nice short.
And Herfried did ask you a question
Maybe it is better to answer Herfried or CJ in that thread, I am never
looking at that output window.

If I'm not mistaken, someone did reply to your earlier post - either that or
someone asked the very same question. Verbose group, easy to miss a
message.

But no, don't worry, as previously stated, it just means a thread has exited
normally. You see this all the time.

CJ Taylor

I responded to your post...

As I said, it just means the thread exited cleanly... doesn't necessarily
mean anything except for that it exited as a thread is expected to exit.

Not much mor eto it than that...

To All,

I think you are right, for some reason outlook express shows no replies
under my previous post. Well anyway thanks CJ for reposting to this thread.

I remember you already got some replies. I am still not sure how you
start the "batch process".

No problem... happens all the time..

Thank you for thanking me... I speak on behalf of most of the people here
when I say we don't get that a lot, so when it does come around, it is much
appreciated.

Thanks,
CJ

Herfried,

Sorry but Outlook Express is NOT showing any replies under my last post,
trust me I am not loosing my mind.
I guess I considered my "Batch Process" being a large SQL Transaction
executing thousands of insert statements ... well anyway CJ reposted to my
most recent post, which I did see, which answered my question.

Cheers,
Rob

You can monitor your active threads using the debug menu in visual
studio.
Simply set a breakpoint and and then flick through the various options
available at debug > window > threads.

To find out precisely which thread 00X94 is simply give each thread
you spin up, or the current application thread, a name.

Thread.CurrentThread.Threadname = "MyThread"

or is that

Thread.CurrentThread.Name = "MyName".

I forget, probably the former though. That intellisense sure is making
me lazy.

......

Now what were you shocked about?

And, maybe you should work on your manners.

Have you considered the possibility that not everyone on this board has
English as their native language?

Hi Panosh,
My name is Rob ...should never address a person by their lastname.
Very rud comment.

any maybe he should consider his manners .... his email wasn't very nice.

Richard,

Thanks for the help.
I posted this message last Friday and had no reponses in my newsreader,
which apparently turned out to be an error with Outlook Express, so I
reposted my message stating that I was shocked that nobody replied, when
people actually did reply. Well anyway thats water under the bridge.

Once again thanks for your help.

<sigh>....
OK, one more time. Cor's native language is NOT English. It is often
difficult for people, when not speaking their native language, to miss the
subtleties and nuances of a language - especially when writing.
</sigh>

No wonder some many people can't stand Americans.

Bob,

Take a pill will ya ... I understood your last post.
No, I don't believe you did.
Doesn't excuse arrogance.
You may have perceived it that way, but if you understood my post, as you
claim you did, you would know that is not the case.
We don't want to start that thread here. Apparently you are not an
American.
Actually, I am. Apparently you don't read, and/or are not very well
traveled. If either were true, you would know I am right.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for defending me,
You may have perceived it that way, but if you understood my post, as you

Maybe it was arrogance; I tried to answer Rob a little bit in his own style.

Thank you for defending me, I am glad that there are Americans like you who
know that this attitude gives the world a wrong idea of all Americans. For
some Americans that seem to be not important, luckily it is a minority in my
opinion.

I agree with Bob. Of course I too have lived outside of America.
Unfortunately we are born with an inherit arrogance that we are oblivious
to, unless we get outside of our cozy county...

My wife is an immigrant and has the same troubles as she continues learning
english.

BTW, Cor, where are you from?

Hi Bob,
Thank you for defending me,

Maybe it was arrogance; I tried to answer Rob a little bit in his own style.

How could one tell. In order to be truly arrogant, you need to be talented
at the language... which we all know your not at yet (no offense of
course...) But I've stated before about language barriers in here. I
admit, americans (As I am one myself) are very cockey about their own
language. None of us (well few that is) seem to realize just how complex
our language is.

Take the word f*ck... No language on this planet has as many uses of a word
as we americans do for this one... And thats 1 WORD of 350,000+

So I respect the fact that Cor, Herfried and the rest of our Euro
Denomination friends try to speak a rather diffucult language. It's like
speaking C++ fluently. =)
