I am looking for a feature I have encountered in linux in the past
which allows you to launch your applications from a right click.
Anyone know of anything? As always, any help provided is much
appreciated.

A right click on what? A right click has to have a context
(even in Linux assuming a GUI). On the desktop? On a file?
On a window?

ok sorry, on the desktop for example. I want to be able to right click
whereever the mouse is hovering and launch either any applications or
the ones I select to be accessed this way

Right click followed by selecting Open won't work for you?

How about a single left click?

You can, for example, right click on a file in explorer and
pop up a menu which allows you to do a number of things to
that file. You can right click on the desktop and do a
number of things related to the desktop. It depends where
you click.

Even if you click on a file in explorer, it may do different
things depending on the extension of the file eg if it's a
zip file the right-click menu has various options related to
a zip file.

I guess maybe it is overkill but sometimes I'm not working in the
actual explorer program but in the basic folders. (ie without the tree
view. I guess it isn't necessary to have a bunch of my apps listed
because I can right click on a file and then select "open with" and get
a list of apps that will work with the particular file I'm working on.
For me it seems to be just a nice overkill feature that's all. Thanks
for the post just the same.
