The teacher wants to download MSN broadband video for her class to see. I
can't get through the window that says 'Your current security settings
prohibit running activeX controls in this page...

I have switched to custom settings on the security icon in tools/internet
options/security to enable all activeX controls within reason but fail to
get past that security window. How can i get the Macromedia player
installed to get to the student videos on MSN? Thanks. charlie

You'll need to let the activex controls install, run, and script. Go beyond
'within reason'. IE doesn't have its security settings marked out well.

If you want, you can also go over to Macromedia's site and download the full
installer.

However, if the video is flash (an activeX control) then you wont be able to
download it.

If it's a wmv or some such, you may need a 'stream ripper', such as
NetTransport.

Dear Charles..... I am too suffering with no-understanding of active X - I
have sent a post just now too - it may help if I get any replies......I hope
we get it sorted !!

Still working on it on my workbox. I am running Server2003 and i can get to
macromedia.com with no problem. I can't get the install to work yet. I
moved macromedia.com to the intranet site and still no luck. I used the
custom filter and enabled all activex controls. still no go in the install.
I assume that is what you meant by install, run and script in your message.
I am going out through an ISA Server that sheilds us from the internet.
Does that have anything to do with my problem? Thanks, charlie

I get to macromedia but the install fails. I assume i am in the server 2003
enhanced IE security and i can't figure out how to get through it yet...

Try using another browser to download the full package, then install it and
during install you should be able to choose which browsers to install it to.
