iis and Directory Browsing

quick and to the point, is it possible to customize the 'generated' index of
all the files that are in a folder (when directory browsing flag is enabled
and there is no "index.asp" or equiv)

a quick google showed that this was somehow done with ISAPI filters, yet
they ask for a price, I figured I should go strait to the source to see if
anyone could shed some light on this topic

The correct "source" would really be an IIS
group....microsoft.public.inetserver.iis sounds like it might be the one for
you.
