Minimum burn speed I can get is 4X, but my GoVideo 4000 (piece of junk
- don't waste your money) won't read them if they're burned faster
than 1X, and I'd like to stop having to buy +RWs. And the
Memorex-branded version of Nero won't burn the files.

Try ripping it with
DVDFab Decrypter

Then open the files with DVD Shrink and then burn it with DVD Decrypter

I've seen you recommend this program a few times before.
I must try it, especially as I see it deals with the latest Sony ARccOS
protection.
