My wife's laptop never had Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed.
Service Pack 1 is no longer available.
Will SP 2 install without having SP 1 installed first?
Does SP 2 include all the fixes and patches that SP 1 had?

Thanks.

SP2 has everything - no need to install SP1 first.

Some people have had some bad experiences with SP2. Their machines will not
boot up after installing SP2.
You might want to wait till the Windows Update has it. It will only update
what is necessary on individual computers.

Yes.

Did she have a firewall? Were the critical patches installed? If not,
you could usefully check that she has no viruses and you could
download Ad-aware and Spy-Bot to check for ad-ware,

Cheers,

No. "Salmonella" is a pseudonym. Previously, I used my realsy-truesy
name and and my main e-mail address for posting to groups, and I was
plagued by spam from hell and instant messenger pop-ups from
idiosyncratically sexual beings from other planets (and from within the
geographical entity in which I reside) generally wanting to know if I
was wearing underwear. It is an index of the depravity of our time--and
the apparent popularity of Yahoo e-mail--that there are nine Salmonellas
before me. I wonder what their stories are?
